Dr. Dinesh Kumar has worked at several reputed Institutes across the world including Stevens Institute of Technology, USA; University of Exeter, UK; University of Toronto, Canada; Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland; Queensland University of Technology, Australia; Australian National University, Australia and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Dr Dinesh Kumar has carried out consulting projects for organizations such as the Army Management Studies Board, The Boston Consulting Group (India) Private Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Mission Hospital, Scalene Works, Wipro Limited, World Health Organization etc.
Dr Dinesh Kumar teaches Business Analytics and Intelligence, Quantitative Methods and Stochastic Models at IIM Bangalore.
Dr Dinesh Kumar’s research interests include Business Analytics, Supply chain with Service Level Agreements, Defence and Aerospace Logistics, Six Sigma and Stochastic models. Dr Dinesh Kumar has written two books and over 70 articles in refereed International journals. Eleven of his case studies on Business Analytics based on Indian companies such as Aavin Milk Dairy, Apollo Hospitals, HAL, Shubham Housing Development Finance Company have been distributed through the Harvard Business Publishing. He received the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Award with his colleagues Professors P D Jose and Vasanthi Srinivasan.
Dr Dinesh Kumar is the president of the Analytics Society of India. Dr Dinesh Kumar was the Associate Editor of the Journal OPSEARCH, the Journal of Operational Research Society of India between 2004 and 2011. He was also the editorial member of the Journal Risk and Reliability published by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK and ad-hoc referee for several International journals in Operations Research and Systems Engineering. Dr U Dinesh Kumar served as an academic council member of Anna University Trichy and member of board of studies of MBA programme of Anna University, Trichy.
Dr Dinesh Kumar was awarded the best young teacher award by the Association of Indian Management Schools for the year 2003.
